iPhone | Unlock your 3G iPhone

This tutorial is meant for those who want to unlock their 3G iPhone to work with any cell phone carrier. Before you follow these instructions to unlock your 3G iPhone, you must have a JailBroken iPhone. If you don't have then check out the tutorials section to unlock your iPhone.

Note: You must have 02.28.090 baseband on your iPhone and must be running the latest 2.2 firmware. Also, your iPhone should have been JailBroken using QuickPwn.

To find firmware for your iPhone, follow the instructions below:

Step 1:
Tap the “Settings” icon present on your Springboard.

Step 2:
From the Setting, select the "General" Tab.

Step 3:
Now, tap to select the “About” tab.

 

Step 4:
Finally, from the About window you can find your firmware version by checking the “Version”.

Now, scroll down below & you will find the Baseb& version of your iPhone, labeled as “Modem Firmware”.


Before performing the Unlock operation, make sure that you have JailBroken your 2.2 firmware iPhone using QuickPwn, if not so then check out this Tutorial. Mac or Windows.

Step 1:
On your “SpringBoard”, tap the “Cydia” icon to launch the “Cydia” application.

Step 2:
At the bottom of the application window, you will find a Manage section. Tap the Manage tab.

Step 3:
From the available options, select the “Sources” option.

Step 4:
Now, press the “Edit” button located at the top right corner of the window.

Step 5:
Now, press the “Add” button located at the top left corner of the window to add a new source.

Step 6:
Enter the following url “http://apt9.yellowsn0w.com/” as the source & press the “Add Source” button to confirm adding the source.

Step 7:
After the source has been added successfully, you can press the “Return to Cydia” button.

Step 8:
Finally, press the “Done” button located at the top right corner of the window to return to the Sources section.

Step 9:
Now, tap the “apt9.yellowsn0w.com” option from the list of available sources.

Step 10:
From the sub options, you will notice only one application. Tap to select “yellowsn0w” application.

Step 11:
Now, install the application by tapping the “Install” button located at the top right corner of the window.

Step 12:
Tap the “Confirm” button located at the top right corner of the window to continue with the installation process.

Step 13:
Once the installation has been successfully completed, you can press the “Return to Cydia” button.

Step 14:
Finally, press the “Home” button & reboot your iPhone by powering off & then powering on.

Step 15:
As a last step, you can insert any SIM in your iPhone.

If you encounter some problems related with your SIM, try removing & inserting the SIM again. Also, you can try turning OFF the Airplane mode & then turning it ON.

1. Soon you’ll notice yellowsn0w 0.9.1 in the repos section. This new version is an improved version, which fixes some issue with your SIM card. It might take long time to initialize your SIM. If you are having problems with 0.9.0 version, then try this.

2. If you are using T-Mobile as your carrier then you must turn off the 3G switch in Settings.

3. If you have entered a PIN in your SIM card, please make sure to remove it before performing the unlock operation. Since, this is a Beta version; we are working to allow for ‘SIM’ cards with ‘PIN’ enabled.
